In the heart of downtown Blackwell, Hutton Pharmacy has been a trusted pillar of health and wellness for many years. However, when a thunderstorm wreaked havoc on their original location in late 2023, they faced a pivotal moment in their journey. Undeterred by adversity, Hutton Pharmacy seized the opportunity to write a new chapter, embarking on a transformative project with the help of AMMP.

Tasked with the challenge of repurposing a former restaurant building into a modern pharmacy, AMMP embarked on a mission to blend functionality with aesthetics. Located directly across the street from their largest competitor, Walmart, Hutton Pharmacy needed to stand out in more ways than one.

At the heart of their differentiation strategy lies their commitment to compounding services – a rarity in the area, with the closest provider located 45 minutes to an hour away. Recognizing the importance of this offering, AMMP designed two small additions to the building, including a retail space and a dedicated area for compounding services.

One of the key challenges of this project was finding a way to update the building’s facade to shed its restaurant past while still integrating elements of its character into the design. Drawing inspiration from the building’s history, AMMP seamlessly blended modern touches with nostalgic influences, creating a space that feels both familiar and fresh.

The result is a revitalized pharmacy that not only meets the functional needs of its clientele but also captures the essence of community and connection. From the welcoming retail space to the cutting-edge compounding services, Hutton Pharmacy is poised to redefine the standard of care in downtown Blackwell.
